What a cutie! Every Maltese owner needs a piece of this pattern! Lefton produced this cute little dog in the early 1960s and the pattern was called "Toodles." Most of the pieces have a matte finish that give him a real soft look but there was a teapot, biscuit jar, cream and sugar that had a gloss finish... same cute face and detailing, just gloss rather than matte finish. The matte finish pieces have the green numeric mark and I believe the gloss had black numeric marking. To make it more confusing, there was also a set made in Japan consisting of the cream, sugar, s/p, and napkin holder - they are often advertised as the Lefton Toodles but one look at their eyes and you know it's not our Lefton Toodles! Typically not many manufacturing flaws on these but the tips of the top hair seem to be chipped on a lot of the pieces. The pieces produced in this pattern are the salt & pepper shakers, sugar, jam, cookie jar, teapot, butter dish, child's bowl and cup, planter, and wall plaques.
